Introduction to Milestones Templates
Milestone Templates in AcceleratorApp allow incubator and accelerator administrators to standardize tracking frameworks for their cohorts. Instead of building goal-setting paths from scratch for every new company, templates enable teams to build reusable roadmaps featuring predefined metrics, expectations, and structured targets.
This functionality streamlines progress monitoring by giving both program managers and founders an aligned view of required operational achievements. Startups benefit from clear, actionable roadmap structures, while administrators save hours of setup time and ensure consistent portfolio benchmarking across multiple cohorts or incubation phases.
Where to find Milestone Templates
To access Milestones Templates, navigate to Startups > Milestones Templates. Here, you can create new milestone templates, edit existing ones, and manage milestone-related data.

Step-by-Step
1. Creating a New Plan
Click the blue Add New Plan button located in the top-right corner of the page.
2. Duplicating an Existing Template
Click the three vertical dots next to an existing template and select Duplicate if you want to copy a framework instead of starting from scratch.
3. Deleting a Template
Click the three vertical dots next to a template and select the Delete Template option or click the trash icon to remove an unwanted framework.

4. Configuring Plan Parameters
Enter your plan details into the configuration form, including the Milestone Name, Goal, Unit of Measure, Target Result, and Summary, then click Save.

5. Structuring Primary Milestones
Click into your newly created plan template and click the blue Add Milestone button to define your core high-level goals:
- Milestone Name
- Goal

6. Creating Sub-Milestones
Click the orange + Add Sub Milestone button nested under a primary milestone to create granular tactical tasks for the startups.
A menu will appear where you can fill in the details for each sub-milestone and save it.

7. Assigning the Template to Startups
Navigate to the Startup File, click the Milestones tab, and select your template from their plan options to launch it.
General information from the template will auto-populate, and you will then need to fill in specific fields like the start date, end date, and current progress against the target.

8. Exporting the Completed Plan
Navigate to the active milestone layout within the Startup File and click the export button to generate a clean PDF copy of the tracking sheet.

Best Practices
Use clear naming conventions: Name your templates by cohort year or program type (e.g., "Pre-Seed Cohort 2026 Template") to avoid administrative confusion.
Break goals down cleanly: Keep primary milestones focused on macro-achievements (e.g., "Launch Beta Product") and reserve sub-milestones for individual tasks.
Avoid changing live templates mid-cohort: Modifications made to a base template do not automatically overwrite active plans already running in startup profiles.
